12 December 2008, Friday

3:45p.m.

Friday

Temp 32 F

152 Highway West

One of Kansas City's most traveled corridors.

People need to learn how to drive. At the very least, they need to learn to merge.

I travel 152 Westbound every day on my way home from work. I take 1-29 South to 152 West so I can grab the road that brings me home. It's ridiculous on how people can't merge. And that's another thing. You're approaching an on ramp, MOVE THE FREAK OVER! to allow the oncoming traffic to MERGE! I'm pretty sure it's the law in Missouri and for God's sake, common courtesy!

I leave in the dark every morning. It's about 6:35 to 6:40 a.m. We'd had a bit of a freeze that morning, so I can understand someone being cautious. Sadly, it's happened before. And I want to teach this fella how to DRIVE!

The road I bring home I, of course, use to access 152 East to go to I-29 North to get to work. At least twice a week I encounter a white SUV driven by the husband of a co-worker. (I only know it's a co-worker's husband that cannot drive because I have followed the vehicle in question all the way to work. I have seen my co-worker get out of said vehicle. ) He'll get down at the end of the ramp to 152 East, see all the traffic, have a panic attack, (I guess. ) and slam on his brakes! Causing muah to have to slam on her brakes, or, if he's moved over to the side of the road (his new habit after having said panic attack) to quickly merge!

But, I guess his normal morning habit wasn't enough.

I'm extra careful pulling out of the parkinglot of our work. It's a freakin zoo every afternoon. Especially Fridays. I sit in my car and wait for the people I just saw climb into their cars to pull out. There goes that lady from filing. And there's the man from Farmland who always cuts out early instead of staying until 5pm. Yep, there goes the red car from billing. Okay, my turn. I pull out slowly, go over to the "out" side of the drive AND HERE COMES THE WHITE SUV THAT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO MERGE! HE'S SPEEDING THROUGH THE PARKINGLOT WITH NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE! HE SPEEDS PAST SO FAST IT MAKES MY GRAND PRIX ROCK DUE TO THE SHEER FORCE OF THE SPEED!

*sighs*

1:15 a.m.

Saturday Morning.
